Kycoo's List of Favorites
This is a somewhat badly-organized list of my numerous obsessions and preferences, followed by a short explanation of why I like 'em.
- Animals
- Animated Movies
- Anime/Manga
- Artists
- Authors
- Bands
- Movies
- Movie Trilogies
- Sports Teams
- Video Games
Animals
- Dogs. Their tails are constantly wagging, and they try to jump on you when they're happy to see you.
- Sea turtles. They're enormous and enormously cool (especially the ones in that animated movie, Finding Nemo).
- Cats. They act like teenagers.
Animated Movies
- Mulan. The songs are amazing, and Mulan is a fascinating protagonist. She's been one of my heroes since childhood. I also love Cri-kee, her supposedly lucky (and extraordinarily cute!) cricket.
- Cars. Cute animated cars! Especially Mater, who's so dorky and rusty, yet adorable.
- Ratatouille. The rats manage to be cute, the main human character is just like Mater (see above), the story's pretty interesting, and Anton Ego is probably my favorite animated villain of all time.
- WALL·E. Despite being a little preachy, the story is fascinating, and WALL·E is the cutest hunk of junk since Mater (see above again).
- Pokémon: The Movie 2000. Unlike the x other Pokémon movies out there, this one actually has an intriguing plot. Plus Lugia, the main Pokémon, is pretty cool.
Anime/Manga
- Yu-Gi-Oh! (Yuugiou). The characters are awesome, and the manga actually makes you think. The dub doesn't exactly do it justice.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's (Yuugiou 5D's). This is the second sequel (threequel?) to the animanga above. It's still airing, so I have yet to develop a full opinion of it, but for the moment: the plot is existent (shocking!) and the characters are awesome.
- Code Geass. Probably one of the most hardcore anime series I've ever seen. It delves a lot into morality and makes you do a lot of thinking.
- Pokémon. Well, old-school Pokémon. A ton of the Pokémon are the cutest things ever, and a lot of old Pokémon episodes are extremely memorable.
- Sailor Moon. The main characters are all girls, and some of them aren't wimps. (I watched this show as a kid, which was so long ago that I didn't even know what anime was.)
Artists
- Chris Tomlin. He's an amazing and humble songwriter, and he has a unique voice that I particularly like listening to.
- Steven Curtis Chapman. He writes incredible music and has a knack for clever rhymes. He has a nice voice, too.
- Jeremy Camp. His songs are very catchy, not to mention easy (and fun) to sing along to.
Authors
- Lemony Snicket. His Series of Unfortunate Events manages to be depressing and hilarious at the same time, thanks to his sarcastic wit.
- Anthony Horowitz. I love his Alex Rider series and Diamond Brothers Mysteries. Both are exciting, interesting, and written in a loose, enjoyable way that I really like.
- Wendelin Van Draanen. She can grab you, throw you into the storyline, and keep you there until the conclusion. Her Sammy Keyes series is amazing.
Bands
- newsboys. Their lyrics are wildly amusing, yet profound. And their lead singer, Peter Fuler, has the coolest Australian accent.
- Kutless. Their music is pretty catchy, and they're amazing live; they actually know how to control their sound so they don't bust your eardrums.
- Casting Crowns. Many of their songs are both eloquent and elegant, and the testimony of lead singer, Mark Hall, is deeply touching.
- The Afters. Their lyrics have a different and witty edge to them, and they have such a wide variety of talents that they can pull off almost any style of music.
- Switchfoot. Their lead singer, Jonathan Foreman, has such a cool and unique voice. And their songs have extremely metaphorical lyrics.
- Lifehouse. Jason Wade, the lead singer, has a pleasantly deep voice that brings a unique charm to their songs.
- Relient K. Their music is catchy, exciting, and extremely fun. Lead singer Matt Thiessen's songwriting is amazing and very punny.
Movies
- National Treasure. I don't like history, but I enjoyed the excitement of solving the age-old mysteries with the three main characters. Riley Poole and his quirky remarks don't hurt matters, either. Neither does the villain with the cool accent.
- The Princess Bride. This is one of the funniest movies I've ever watched, and I love it almost as much as the book. It pretty much has everything - fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles.
- The Sound of Music. The music is wonderful, as is the storyline. Julie Andrews is a terrific actress and has such a superb singing voice.
- I Not Stupid.
- The Count of Monte Cristo.
Movie Trilogies
- The Lord of the Rings.
- Star Wars Original Trilogy.
- Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.
Sports Teams
- San Antonio Spurs. They live for teamwork, which I think is the most important thing when it comes to sports. Long live their basketball championship reign!
- San Diego Chargers. LaDainian Tomlinson. Period.
Video Games
- Super Smash Brothers Melee. I'll never tire of it. It's so much fun to beat people up!
- LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy and LEGO Star Wars. It's fun whether you want to just fool around or if you want to play through the Star Wars series. The LEGO characters are adorable, and both are a fantastic way to kill time and enjoy yourself in the process.
